Tips & Tricks
In this page you can find some tips and tricks to get the maximum
CTR from your spots (both banners and links).
Some tips on an effective banner design:
- Write "Click here" on your banner.
- Use animated Gif banner to attract the attention.
- If you are advertising a new product of a well known brand,
do not use the logo of the brand: usually a well known brand logo
is not clicked beacause it is ... well known!
- Change frequently your banner. Research studies from Yahoo and
Infoseek has shown that a banner must be changed after at most
400.000 impressions. Furthermore after a new banner has been placed
you will see a good CTR improvement.
- Use in your banner messages that are related to the site you
want to advertise. This helps to get visitors that are more interested
in the services you offer.
- Use light banners, a light banner will be loaded quicker and
will be probably clicked sooner. The optimal size for a 468x60
banner is 6Kb.
- Use the word "Free", users love it!
- Design a banner that "needs" to be clicked urgently.
For instance use senteces like: "This is your last chance
to..." or "Don't lose this opportunity".
- Link your banner to a secondary page where you explain why the
visitor has been conducted on your site.
Some tips on effective links choice:
- Use keywords related to your site: in this way you can select
better your visitors. Usually people hate to go in wrong places
from misleading banners.
- Use brief sentences, trying to create a sensation of urgence.
- Don't use only capital or small letters.
- Use the word "Free".
- Be a little bit misterious, don't say everything.
